"HOME IS
WHERE THE ART IS" Fine Art And Custom Framing
Home is more that a dwelling, the address on you mailbox
or simply the place where you sleep and wake to each new day.
Home is sometimes a refuge where one seeks comfort and
security. It is where you flourish as individuals and
as family. It's decor reflects you inner self and is yours
because you make it so.
"It is not sufficient to see
and to know of a work of art, you must feel and be affected by it"
Voltaire, 1764
For years, I have bought and sold some of the finest pieces of art
created by some of the most talented artist in the country. Twenty years
ago, I had no idea that I too could tell the stories of our past and
illuminate the contemporary condition of our people today, through
visual art.
Art is not decoration... It is consciousness, it is
history, it is culture. It is a powerful tool to relate to others who
view it, our struggles, despair, hope and joy that we experience and have
experienced in this place we find ourselves.
We have all heard the expression that "a picture is worth a thousand
words." It is my hope as an artist, that the stories I tell on canvas
will evoke critical thinking, that you will analyze our condition and
influence you and your children in a way that will bring about a kind of
change that our village desperately needs.

Home is Where The Art Is Fine Art and Custom Framing,
formally the 49th Street Art Gallery est July 1990
Our mission was to provide affordable customed framed artwork to
a segment of the population that had, to a large extent been
ignored. We also saw a need to provide a vehicle for new up and
coming artists that didn't have a place to exhibit and sell their
work.
What we learned
during this process was that art and culture was misunderstood. We
decided that through art education and exposure to this art form, we
would be able to develop a cultural legacy that we have been
disconnected from for a very long time
